Project Aims
This is a partnership-project that seeks to work collaboratively with schools and communities to effect positive change in student learning outcomes and inter-cultural relations within schools. Stimulating community involvement in school life is integral to this task and requires a culturally inclusive approach. Using three major components: an in-school cultural diversity facilitator; research and evaluation; and multicultural curriculum development, this project aims to:
- Develop a multi-tiered best practice model which encourages school communities to better manage their cultural and linguistic diversity and contribute to social inclusiveness and improved educational and economic opportunities for all learners. This is particularly so for those from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds
- Contribute to government education policies and strategies seeking to improve student retention and attainment levels
- Provide teacher support resources and Professional Development courses which will enhance culturally inclusive teaching and learning
- Build strong partnerships between schools and local communities to promote positive relationships and a more inclusive school environment
- Inform and influence the further development of multicultural education policy and practice at state and national levels.
